Kemper Reappointed to Federal Advisory Council

St. Louis — David W. Kemper, chairman, president and CEO of Commerce Bancshares, Inc., has been reappointed by the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis as the Eighth District's representative on the Federal Advisory Council (FAC). Composed of 12 banking industry representatives from each of the Federal Reserve's districts, the FAC consults with and advises the Board of Governors in Washington, D.C., on all matters within the Board's jurisdiction. Kemper also will serve this year as vice president of the FAC.

Kemper is also president of Civic Progress, vice chair of the board of trustees of Washington University in St. Louis, a member of the board of directors of the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center, and a member of the advisory board of Stanford University's Business School.

With branches in Little Rock, Louisville and Memphis, the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis serves the Eighth Federal Reserve District, which includes all of Arkansas, eastern Missouri, southern Indiana, southern Illinois, western Kentucky, western Tennessee and northern Mississippi. The St. Louis Fed is one of 12 regional Reserve Banks that, along with the Board of Governors in Washington, D.C., comprise the Federal Reserve System. As the nation's central bank, the Federal Reserve System formulates U.S. monetary policy, regulates state-chartered member banks and bank holding companies, and provides payment services to financial institutions and the U.S. government.
